It is your Big Day! Traditional doesn’t have to be! Personalizing is a must!
Jordan almonds, punch, column cake, and plated dinners……… are these traditional elements still around these days? When was the last time you saw Jordan Almonds at a wedding? Perhaps when it comes to the ceremony, we are still going with the traditional format, but when it comes down to the reception traditionalism can easily fly by the way side!
Today’s Brides and Grooms are looking for anything unique and personal to set their wedding apart from any other. Any, never been done before idea that is personal to the couple, is what lights the fire and brings the tears when planning the big day. Who wants the boring, standard, as is reception with the basics, when you can change it into a something fabulous? For example, a tapas style cocktail reception, complete with white, hot lounge furniture, a flamenco dancer, tray passed signature drinks and a mouth watering mini confections display of any and all of your favorite desserts. You can’t go wrong with that!
We are in a new era of weddings, a time of dreaming up all the special elements that make both of YOU who you are and incorporating them into every detail. If you have made the commitment to the investment of your wedding, $25,000 on average, why not make it what you want it to be, and not what it used to be! Traditionalism took place in a separate generation and now we are into the future of modern style, personal vision, and décor.
Here are a few ideas of the now generation:
1. Internet – Emailable invitations, wedding websites, gift selection, vendor shopping.
2. Wedding Dresses – With a hint of color.
3. Bridesmaids Dresses – Same color, same material, but different cuts to flatter.
4. Honor Attendants – It’s not strange to have your maid of honor be male.
5. Wedding Planners – A must!
6. Costs – Shared by multiple contributors.
7. Favors – Optional or make a donation to a charity.
8. Transportation – Anything exotic.
9. Reception Location- Private home and not a hotel.
10. Green Weddings – Let’s be eco friendly.
11. Wedding cakes – A dessert display, cupcakes and definitely no more column cakes!
12. Food – Definitely your favorite and interactive, what about a midnight snack?
13. Table Centerpieces –Why don’t we add props and combine with flowers?
14. Photography – Captured in the moment.
15. Themes – Roaring 20’s, lounge appeal, shabby chic, going green, etc.
The ideas above will continue to change, as they should. Every wedding is different and unique to the family and friends involved. Your Big Day should be as personal and unique to the both of you as it can be. Remember, you are setting the stage for a lifetime full of unforgettable moments and memories. See how fun and easily traditionalism can go flying by the way side!
